Malachite

Malachite gemstone has started to be mined as early as 4000 BC in the Egyptian Sinai area.

Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used it in jewellery for its natural beauty but also as a protection from evil spirits. The sun was believed to be engraved in the stone. It was also used for sculptures and vases.

Malachite is known for purifying our emotional body by releasing negative and painful feelings. Regarding medical benefits, many found it as a cure for liver and gallbladder detoxification.

There are 2 types of malachites. The blue-green one is named “azurite malachite” and gets its name from the Persian word “lashward” meaning blue.  The green stripped malachite is named “malachite”. The name malachite comes from the Greek word “molochitis” meaning the leaves of the mallow plant.

The quality of the malachite is highly influenced by the parallelism of its striping bands. The more parallel, the better. You will easily noticed that we have selected the best malachite for our creations!
